The MDAO session for the Centre Region took place at the Centre of Excellence in Microscience (CEEM) Conference hall in Yaoundé on Wednesday, December 12, 2018. It brought together 40 science and mathematics teachers selected from some 20 public and private schools in Yaoundé, and five regional pedagogic inspectors for sciences (mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics).

The session was moderated by Ms. Mbanwei Prodencia and the main objective was to empower the participants with leadership skills to foster gender-inclusive learning in STEM. Two presentations entitled; The Fundamentals of Gender Inclusive Education in STEM and Personal action planning and teacher leadership development were participatory and interactive and involved sharing of experience and introspective analysis to identify gaps in gender-inclusive teaching and learning in STEM.

A practical workshop entitled Lesson Planning for Competency-Based teaching in STEM was facilitated by the pedagogic inspectors and provided a unique opportunity for the participants to build a strong collaboration which will enable competency-based teaching in STEM and promote gender-inclusive education.
