The Mandela Washington Fellows Cameroon and its honourable partner, the US Embassy Yaoundé, Cameroon is pleased to launch the Mr and Miss YALI Peace Contest to identify, honour and celebrate young people within Cameroon who have overcome fear and threats to lead peacebuilding initiatives within their Communities and Cameroon in general.

The purpose of this YALI Peace Award is to Promote Peace Building and Amplifying Youth Advocacy in Combating Hate Speech and Youth Violence in the Republic of Cameroon.

Winners will be invited and awarded during a Grand National YALI Peace Symposium in Yaounde in May 2022

AWARD PACKAGE

  • You will be crowned Mr or Miss YALI Peace in front of the Delegation from the US Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon, Government Delegates, Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni, and Civil Society Leaders and viewed by over 10,000 audience both online and present at the Grand National YALI Peace Symposium in Yaounde in May 2022.
  • An Award Toolkit to support your peace project/initiative

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must have an already ongoing peacebuilding project or initiative with substantial evidence to demonstrate your peacebuilding impact.
  • Must be a Cameroonian Citizen living in Cameroon for the past 5 years
  • Must be between 18-35 years old.
  • Open to both males and females

SELECTION PROCESS 

Phase 1: Applicants will be shortlisted by team of expert from a poll of applications received

Phase 2: Shortlisted applicants will be put forth for the public to vote for the best peacebuilder

Phase 3: Finalist selected and invited for the Mr and Miss YALI Peace Award during a Grand National YALI Peace Symposium in Yaounde in May 2022.

Le Mandela Washington Fellows Cameroun et son honorable partenaire, l'ambassade des États-Unis à Yaoundé, au Cameroun, ont le plaisir de lancer le concours de paix Master et Miss YALI pour identifier, honorer et célébrer les jeunes au Cameroun qui ont surmonté la peur et les menaces pour mener des initiatives de consolidation de la paix au sein de leurs communautés et le Cameroun en général.

L'objectif de ce YALI "Peace Award" est de promouvoir la consolidation de la paix et d'amplifier le plaidoyer des jeunes dans la lutte contre les discours haineux et la violence en République du Cameroun.

Les gagnants seront invités et récompensés lors d'un Grand Colloque National YALI sur la Paix à Yaoundé en mai 2022.

  • Vous serez couronné Master ou Miss YALI Peace devant la délégation de l'ambassade des États-Unis à Yaoundé, au Cameroun, les délégués gouvernementaux, les anciens boursiers du programme Mandela Washington et les dirigeants de la société civile et vus par plus de 10 000 spectateurs à la fois en ligne et présents au Grand Colloque National YALI de la paix à Yaoundé en mai 2022.

ELIGIBILITÉ

  • Doit avoir un projet ou une initiative de consolidation de la paix déjà en cours avec des preuves substantielles pour démontrer votre impact sur la consolidation de la paix.
  • Être citoyen camerounais vivant au Cameroun depuis 5 ans
  • Doit avoir entre 18 et 35 ans.
  • Ouvert aux hommes et aux femmes

PROCESSUS DE SÉLECTION

Phase 1 : Les candidats seront présélectionnés par une équipe d'experts à partir d'un sondage des candidatures reçues

Phase 2 : les candidats présélectionnés seront proposés au public pour voter pour le meilleur artisan de la paix

Phase 3 : Finaliste sélectionné et invité pour le Master et Miss YALI Peace Award lors d'un Grand Colloque National YALI Peace à Yaoundé en mai 2022.
